Who We Are

Brave Conversations Alaska was created to support schools, organizations, and communities who are in positions to respond to mental health crises and suicide risk. We believe that when a community feels equipped and competent, lives can be saved and fewer people will fall through the cracks.

Our work focuses on equipping agencies with real-world skills in communication, suicide prevention, and crisis response. Through interactive workshops and consulting, we help individuals and teams move beyond awareness and into action. In moments of crisis, action looks like knowing what to say, how to say it, and how to respond in a way that keeps someone safe while connecting them to the support they need.

At Brave Conversations Alaska, we recognize that every community has different needs and strengths. We take the time to understand your community to tailor our work to fit your specific setting. Our mission is to strengthen communities across Alaska by building confidence in navigating brave conversations and recognizing and responding to suicide risk.

Our approach is:

  • Practical - focused on skills that can be used immediately

  • Collaborative - working alongside you, not just presenting information

  • Relationship-centered - prioritizing connection, trust, and respect

We create spaces where people can engage honestly, practice new skills, and leave feeling more confident in their ability to support others.

We work with schools and educators, healthcare and behavioral health teams, law enforcement and first responders, tribal organizations and community groups, and nonprofits and local businesses.
